Formula
score = correct − wrong ÷ 3
- 1 mark per question
- 100 questions in NTPC CBT-1 and Group D, 120 in NTPC CBT-2
- Unattempted questions score 0
One mark for each right answer, and a third of a mark off for each wrong answer.

How it works
Railway Recruitment Board computer-based tests award 1 mark for each correct answer and deduct one-third of a mark for each wrong answer; unattempted questions score zero. The first stage of NTPC (CBT-1) and the Group D CBT each have 100 questions, while the second stage of NTPC (CBT-2) has 120.
Select the exam and stage so that the number of questions is checked, then enter your correct and wrong answers. A candidate with 70 right and 18 wrong in a 100-question paper scores 70 − 6 = 64.
This is a raw score. When a CBT is held over several shifts the Boards normalise marks, and qualifying marks differ by category — neither is modelled here, and cut-offs are published only after the exam. For other recruitment exams see SSC MTS Score Calculator and Banking Prelims Score Calculator, or use Exam Score Calculator for any scheme.
Assumptions and limits
- 1 mark per question and one-third negative marking, as described for recent NTPC and Group D cycles. Check the official notice for your year.
- Normalisation across shifts and category-wise qualifying marks are not applied.
