Formula
score = marks × correct − (penalty × marks) × wrong (per section, then summed)
- IBPS PO Prelims 2025 pattern: English 30, Quantitative Aptitude 35, Reasoning 35 — 100 questions
- Default: 1 mark per question and a penalty of ¼ mark per wrong answer
- Unattempted questions score 0
One mark for each right answer, and a quarter of a mark off for each wrong one.

How it works
The IBPS PO preliminary exam has 100 questions in three timed sections — English Language (30), Quantitative Aptitude (35) and Reasoning Ability (35) — and is scored out of 100. Each wrong answer costs one-fourth of the marks for a question, so a wrong answer subtracts 0.25 and an unattempted question subtracts nothing.
Enter your correct and wrong answers for each section. The table shows the score for each section, which matters because prelims usually have sectional cut-offs as well as an overall one. Published summaries disagree on how the 100 marks are split between sections for the 2025 exam, so the calculator treats every question as worth the same marks, which you can change along with the penalty.
Other banking exams with the same three-section shape can be checked by editing the marks and penalty, but confirm the pattern in the official notice because sectional limits can differ. Cut-offs are published after each exam and are not predicted here. See also Exam Score Calculator for any scheme, Target Score Planner to plan accuracy, and Marks Percentage Calculator.
Assumptions and limits
- Section sizes of 30, 35 and 35 questions follow the IBPS PO Prelims pattern reported for the 2025 cycle. Other exams can differ — check the notice.
- All questions are treated as worth equal marks; sources disagree on per-section marks, so edit the marks per question if your paper says otherwise.
- Sectional and overall cut-offs are not predicted.
