How to use it
Enter the width and height your form asks for (in pixels, or in centimetres, millimetres or inches with a DPI) and, if there is one, the minimum and maximum file size in KB. A frame with the same shape as the target appears over your photo: drag the picture or use the arrow keys to position it, zoom in to frame the face, rotate if needed, or choose to fit the whole picture with margins instead of cropping. The output is exactly the size you set, and the preview shows the real file that will be downloaded.
To meet a size limit, the tool searches for the highest JPG quality whose file stays under your maximum. The limit is applied as 1000 bytes per KB and the minimum as 1024 bytes per KB, so the file passes whichever way a portal counts. If the picture compresses to less than your minimum, the “pad” option adds invisible filler data to the file; the image is unchanged, but it reaches the required size. If your pixel size and KB limit cannot be met together, the tool says so and shows what it achieved, rather than pretending.
Photo and signature rules differ between exams, years and portals, so the presets are only starting points based on commonly published values; check them against your own notification and edit any number. Nothing is uploaded and no background removal or face checking is done, so make sure the photo itself meets the instructions. For signatures use the Signature Resizer, for general resizing the Image Resizer, to shrink any picture the Image Compressor, and to combine documents into one file JPG to PDF Converter or Merge PDF.
Supported formats and limits
| Target size | Any width and height in pixels, cm, mm or inches (DPI 36–1200, up to 6000 px per side). |
|---|---|
| File size | Optional minimum and maximum in KB. The tool lowers JPG quality to get under the maximum, and can pad the file with invisible filler to reach the minimum. |
| Output | JPG (default) or PNG. |
| Framing | Fill the frame (drag to position, zoom 100–400%, rotate) or fit the whole picture with margins in a background colour you choose. |
| Presets | Commonly published sizes as starting points only. Forms and years differ, so always use the numbers on your own notification. |
| Not included | No background removal, face detection or compliance checking: the tool cannot confirm that a photo meets a portal's rules. |
Practical examples
A bank-exam style photo: 200 × 230 px, 20–50 KB
- Situation
- Choose the bank-exam style preset, drop a portrait photo and drag it so the face is centred in the frame.
- What to expect
- The output is exactly 200 × 230 pixels. The tool picks the highest JPG quality that stays under the maximum, and the result panel shows the size in KB and whether it sits inside your range.
A 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo with a 50 KB limit
- Situation
- Choose the 3.5 × 4.5 cm preset (300 DPI) and set the maximum to 50 KB.
- What to expect
- The target is 413 × 531 pixels. If a plain photo compresses below a required minimum, the padding option raises the file to the minimum without altering the picture.
A limit that cannot be met
- Situation
- A large pixel size with a very small KB cap, for example 600 × 600 px under 10 KB.
- What to expect
- The tool shows the smallest file it could make and says plainly that the limit was not met, instead of silently giving you a file the portal will reject.
The numbers behind it
pixels = (cm ÷ 2.54) × DPI, e.g. 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI = 413 × 531 pxaccepted size = from min KB × 1024 bytes to max KB × 1000 bytes
- The upper limit uses 1000 bytes per KB and the lower limit 1024, so the file passes whichever convention a portal uses
- A frame with the same width-to-height ratio as the target decides what part of your photo is kept
The photo is cropped to the shape of the frame, scaled to the exact pixels, then compressed until it fits your KB range.
Honest limits
- Presets are commonly published values, not rules; confirm every figure with your own notification.
- The tool changes size and file size only. It does not check that a photo meets a portal's content rules.
- Padding adds invisible filler to the file; some strict portals may still reject unusual files, so test the upload.
- Very small KB limits on large pixel sizes cannot always be met.
