Formula
value in target unit = value × (kg per source unit) ÷ (kg per target unit)
- 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg exactly
- 1 oz = 28.349523125 g
- 1 stone = 14 lb
- 1 quintal = 100 kg
Convert to kilograms, then to the unit you want.

How it works
The international pound is defined as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, and an ounce is one sixteenth of a pound (28.349523125 g). Everyday “weight” is really mass, which is what these units measure; the difference only matters when you leave Earth.
Three units trip people up: the UK stone is 14 pounds (6.35 kg), the “ton” is ambiguous — a US short ton is 907 kg, a UK long ton 1,016 kg and a metric tonne 1,000 kg, and all three are listed separately — and the quintal used in Indian agriculture is 100 kg. The carat (200 mg) is for gemstones. For length use Length Converter; to convert recipe volumes see Volume Converter.

- Troy ounces and other precious-metal units aren't included.
